Kızıl Sırtlı Örümcekkuşu (Red-backed Shrike)

Geçen Pazar günü köpeklerim Alex ve Lily ile Moda'dan Kalamış'a yürürken sahil yolunda fark ettim bu güzelliği. Uzaktan önce göğsüne güneş vurmuş bir serçe sandım fakat fotoğraf makinemin tele-objektifi ile baktığımda daha önce hiç görmediğim bir tür olduğunu anladım. 

I saw that beauty last Sunday, while I was walking with my dogs Alex and Lily on the coast path from Moda to Kalamış. From far I first thought it was a sparrow whose chest was shining under sunlight but when I looked with the telephoto lens of my camera I understood that it was a species I had never seen before. 

Uzaktan fotoğrafını çekmeme aldırmadı, ama iki köpek ve kocaman bir objektifle kendisine doğru yürüdüğümü hissedince dikkat kesildi. 

It was not disturbed about being photographed from far, but when it felt that I was approaching with two dogs and a big lens, it paid attention and kept an eye on us. 

Ve bir ağacın dalları arasına sığınmayı kendisi için daha güvenli buldu. 

And thought that it would be more secure to hide among the branches of a tree.

Eve döner dönmez internette bu kuş hakkında araştırma yaptım ve adının Kızıl Sırtlı Örümcekkuşu (Lanius collurio) olduğunu öğrendim. Ötücü kuşlar ailesine mensup 16-18 cm. boyundaki bu ufaklık yaz aylarını Avrupa ve Batı Asya'da kış aylarını ise Afrika'nın tropikal bölgelerinde geçiren göçmen bir tür. Çayırlık ve çalılık arazilerde yaşıyor, böcek ya da minik kurbağa ve kertenkeleleri avlayarak besleniyor. Dişisi daha kahverengi-gri tonlarda ve mat bir görünüme sahip iken, erkeği yukarıdaki fotoğraflarda gördüğünüz üzere son derece güzel ve gözalıcı bir fizik sergiliyor. 

Once I got back home I did some research on the internet about this bird and learned that its name was Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio). Member of the passerine birds family, it measures 16-18 cm. long and is a migrant species that spends the summer in Europe and Western Asia but winters in tropical Africa. It generally lives in meadows and eats insects or small frogs and lizards. While the female has a dull view with brown-grey tones, the male has a very beautiful and stunning appearance as you see on the photos hereabove.
